The National Association of Licensed Paralegals (NALP) will be hosting the third National Paralegal Day with an evening event at the House of Commons in London on Wednesday 8th November 2023, from 7pm to 9pm.
The event will also host NALP’s very first ‘NALP Paralegal Achievement Awards’, which are being launched this year as part of National Paralegal Day. The Awards are for:
Highest Achievement for the NALP Level 3 Award in Paralegal Practice 2022/23
Highest Achievement for the NALP Level 3 Certificate in Paralegal Practice 2022/23
Highest Achievement for the NALP Level 3 Diploma in Paralegal Practice 2022/23
Highest Achievement for the NALP Level 4 Diploma in Paralegal Studies 2022/23
Highest Achievement for the NALP Level 7 Diploma in Paralegal Practice 2022/23
National Paralegal Day was established to celebrate the role that Paralegals play within the English legal sector, and the contribution they make to the legal profession. Whether they are working within a solicitor’s practice, in-house at a large organisation or independently in their own practice – Paralegals fill a void that has been created by the reduction in legal aid and the increased costs of paying for a conventional lawyer.
Paralegals are often the unsung, unrecognised members of the legal profession – and yet, each year, they help thousands of people who wouldn’t otherwise be able to afford legal representation. They also support solicitors and their teams and help them deliver high quality services to clients, and they work hard within organisations as diverse as local authorities and FTSE100 companies.
National Paralegal Day 2023 is sponsored by Mindful Education, Finders International, BARBRI, and the National Paralegal College.
National Paralegal Day is an opportunity to celebrate, to network, to meet colleagues and friends, and to learn more about the role of paralegals within the legal profession.
Tickets must be booked in advance and entrance to the House of Commons is by ticket only. To book click here

Managing employee performance isn't straightforward. Everyone has their own wants, needs and idiosyncrasies. And performance is often a matter of engagement, wellbeing, and an absence of obstacles. So, let's look at the essential components of a best practice performance management platform.
Goals and OKRs
Aside from keeping your team on-task, goal tracking serves as a periodic progress report. That said, there are different goal-tracking options to consider. For instance, SMART Goals break big projects down into manageable milestones. OKRs turn all your projects into key results for company-wide objectives. This is great for organisational alignment and large-scale collaboration.
Performance reviews and continuous feedback
It's true that performance reviews have popularity issues. But that's largely a problem with how they've been implemented. When supported by regular, ongoing feedback, performance conversations are great for managing employee performance.
So, any decent performance management tool needs a system for performance reviews. That way, you have easy documentation, and can automate a lot of the prep work on both sides. Continuous feedback also allows you to monitor engagement in real-time. And that's essential, both for understanding employee sentiment and offering critical feedback.
Talent management
Having a highly engaged, constantly productive employee is wonderful. But staff often have higher expectations of their employers as a result. That means employee recognition, career growth, and regular, ongoing managerial feedback. These are essential to keep your top talent around.
Employee development
Performance management isn't just about making sure people are working hard while they're on the clock. It's about what managers and HR can do to develop them as employees. And career growth doesn't always come in the form of a promotion. Often, career development takes the form of things like upskilling, secondments and mentorships.
