Members of Law Society of England & Wales are making offers of assistance for Afghan legal professionals who arrive in the UK.

Offers vary from hosting on arrival for a temporary period, mentoring, and welcoming with talks about the English legal system, sitting in for hearings, and general help to familiarise judges with the new legal environment.

Please email sarachandler.lawsociety@gmail.com if you are able to offer any support.

The North West Legal Walks dates have now drawing near and the Manchester Walk will be held on Wednesday 29th September at 17:30.

In 2019, the Legal Walks raised over £1 million for the UK’s free specialist advice charities. Now these services need our support more than ever as they face an unprecedented increase in demand due to the impact of Covid-19.  Many advice services have reported a surge in demand from clients in desperate need of advice in areas such as debt, welfare, immigration, family, housing, and employment law.  Other services are facing a lack of resource and staff to deal with the level of enquiries and severe financial problems that could lead to their permanent closure.

We are encouraging as many teams as possible to take part in the Legal Walks this year to help raise much needed funds and awareness for the free legal advice sector. So, join us in walking to support access to justice across the UK in 2021.

Don't forget to sign up your firm (or as an individual!) and ask for match funding when you register so you’re ready to take part in the return of the Legal Walks 2021!
