Prospective employees and clients want to work for, and with, firms that prioritise purpose, not just profits; firms who make a positive contribution to Society.  When it comes to diversity and inclusion at work, we often place our focus around issues such as gender, race, or disability.  But diversity and inclusion extend far wider than this and includes social mobility.

Our half-day Social Mobility conference will demonstrate the importance of improving this key area.  More than that this event will give practical information on how to implement a social mobility strategy in your firm and will give examples of the benefits to the business as well as individuals.

The programme features keynote speakers from across the region, insightful discussions from a panel with a range of experiences and case studies of success and challenges.

We all must come together collectively and strive for a more equal future for all.  Businesses and leaders have a key role to play in helping to create social mobility and we need to stand up and take action to create a more socioeconomic and ethnically diverse workplace.

So why not join us at our landmark Social Mobility Conference on 17th March 2022? This Conference is held as a partnership event between Squire Patton Boggs and Manchester Law Society and will be of benefit to everybody, but in particular HR, Diversity & Inclusion Officer, Training Partner and Senior Management.

Cost to attend:

MLS Advantage
Recent times have changed the way we must work. Whether it be where we are working or a shake up to the legal landscape itself, firms are requiring increased flexibility to meet the expectations of clients and the varying workloads they are faced with.

The last 2 years have forced firms out of their comfort zone, but this has equally served them a whole raft of new potential opportunities to improve efficiencies within their firm.

With often confusing ‘work from home guidance’, being ordered and rescinded multiple times, it’s likely that the biggest threat to UK business is the general uncertainty and knock-on effect to planning and strategizing for the year ahead.

The pandemic has seen rapid adoption of technology within the legal industry, where this was historically very slow. If another firm can provide legal services more quickly, cheaply, and efficiently, this provides huge challenges to those not keeping up with the pace of change.

This growth and unpredictability mean firms need to evaluate their current workforce, secretarial ratios, infrastructure and software in an attempt to meet client expectations and take a potential ‘piece of the pie’ in terms of new instructions over the coming year.

Historically, such change would consequently impact the number of new hires. Although, certainly not a new concept, outsourcing can help to smooth the peaks and troughs of work whilst maintaining quality control in areas of specialism such as secretarial services, cashiering and helpdesk support.

Solid outsourcing partners ensure there are never staff shortages or technical problems and that companies remain efficient and are run in a cost-effective manner. By outsourcing, firms can manage larger workloads or staffing challenges relatively easily whilst complementing any new flexible work structures that are being formed.
