Last week, the Youth Justice Legal Centre in partnership with the Institute for Crime and Justice Policy Research (ICPR) at Birkbeck published a briefing and research on the quality of legal representation for children in the criminal justice system.
The findings highlight the need for clear guidance around training requirements to ensure children are adequately represented. The briefing also sets out five key recommendations without being un-necessarily onerous for practitioners working in a challenging sector.
The Law Society library is free to use for members. Our opening hours are 9am-5pm, Monday-Fridays. We have practitioner textbooks, journals and law reports on the shelves, and access to Westlaw, Lexis, vLex and PIO in the library. See our website for details of our services.
Members who can't come in person, can still get help – we offer 30 minutes free research time by a librarian on any new enquiry. Send email enquiries to library@lawsociety.org.uk or phone 0207 3205946.
We also have a document delivery service – Lawdocs - and can email copies of precedents, case judgements, commentary, or legislative material to you. You pay-as-you-go with credit or debit card. Details of the service can be found here.
