This Saturday sees the latest fundraising challenge event for our President’s Charity of the Year We Love MCR and it is a chilly one!

This time 100 brave Mancunians are doing a sponsored Valentine's dip at Sale Water Park when the water temperature is at its coldest all year, wearing anything BUT a wetsuit...

The long list of volunteers taking the plunge include our very own President Nick Johnson! If you would like to support Nick and We Love MCR you can donate to his Just Giving page here.

The money raised will help support We Love MCR’s important work with our city's communities and ambitious young people.

Keep your eyes peeled in the March Messenger for the details of how the day went!

Don’t forget to submit your “Shout Out” to celebrate a person or workplace that has supported, inspired or empowered you.

Tell us what makes them so wonderful in no more than 100 words. Please include their photo, name and job title and we’ll publish them in the March Messenger. Don’t forget to let us know who they are nominated by so they know who to thank!

Let’s really show people how much we appreciate their support!

We have extended the deadline to Monday 20th February, and we really look forward to receiving your submissions which should be sent to messenger@manchesterlawsociety.org.uk

We believe the ability to report on future climate related risks should be at the forefront of the property and real estate industry. Climate change data and insights can inform our decisions and lead our innovations, and collectively we should be part of the global movement to achieve net zero.

With increasing risks comes an increased need for awareness – and that starts with joined-up reporting. Despite the lack of a unified, single approach to reporting at the current time, the property industry is recognising the cost of doing nothing will be greater than the cost of acting early.

Whilst the industry awaits the much-anticipated Law Society guidance on climate change procedures, Landmark’s new Climate Change report is available to order via the SearchFlow platform and allows property professionals to share climate-related risks with their clients.

The new report allows you to provide best practice due diligence, adding additional value to your clients on future climate risks. The data baseline for the report, which informs the assessment, is derived from UKCP18. Developed by the Met Office, this is the most authoritative climate projection data available for the UK.

The report has key sections which include both physical risks (flood, subsidence, heat stress and coastal erosion) and transitional risks (EPCs – energy performance). During the investigation phase, analysing what residential conveyancers and commercial real estate lawyers wanted from a climate change report, they told us accessibility was crucial. The report has been designed to be easily understandable for both property professionals and home owners, with clear recommendations and next steps.

SearchFlow’s Sales Director, Rob Steadman agrees that “climate change is an important subject that touches us all, and I believe it should be at the forefront of the real estate industry. For those individuals, businesses, and organisations involved in the property sector, understanding climate change reports will be fundamental to decision making and mitigating risk. We appreciate that whilst the primary concern of a real estate lawyer is the legal title of a property, questions are increasingly going to be asked of them around the impact of climate change and having risk data to support responses will be invaluable.”

We are excited to offer our clients the chance to order the Landmark Climate Change report and be part of the industry change.
